Introduction

The “Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA)” Project, Phase-II, one of the activities is Education, aims at generation of quality human resource in the area of information security at various levels viz. from certificate level to doctoral level, training of faculty/ Industry Professionals on information security in the country.

Objectives

• Capacity building in the area of Information Security to address the human resource requirement of the country
• Generation of core research manpower to undertake basic/fundamental research, applied research, research in the area of Product/Solution design and development and in selected thematic areas of national strategic importance to build indigenous capability
• Introduction of Information Security curriculum in formal courses like M.Tech./M.E./M.S., B.Tech/B.E., Post Graduate Diploma courses, faculty training, modular/short term knowledge oriented courses etc. through academic institutions
• Launching non-formal modular/short-term knowledge-cum-skill oriented courses etc. for working professionals at all levels including the flexible certificate programs, certification scheme through NIELIT, CDAC etc.

Area of Coverage / Target Beneficiaries

Under Academic Activities 1,14,038 persons are to be trained under formal & non formal courses, faculty training etc. Besides this, around 400 paper publications are expected from ISRDCs, RCs, PIs

Activities & Outcome of the Project

Lab infrastructure	Labs @ 52 institutions set-up/upgraded to facilitate research activities and launch of specialized programs in Information Security
Support to research activities	45 Post Doc and 80 MS by Research students supported Technical papers in reputed Journals/Conferences Collaboration and handholding from ISRDCs
Faculty Trainings	Faculty training programs (including advance programs) in Information Security organised by ISRDCs/RCs. 3500 faculty /prospective faculty trained.
Specialised @ M.Tech level	Specialised M.Tech (Information Security/Computer Science with specialisation in Information Security) offered by 17 institutions.
Retrofitting of security subjects at M.Tech /B.Tech level	Several subjects (core/electives) in information security introduced (retrofitted) at M.Tech/B.Tech curriculum. More than 3 lakhs students covered through retrofitted subjects.
Model Syllabus	Model course structure/syllabus for specialised M.Tech, MS/M.Tech by Research, M.Tech/B.Tech (Retrofit) and Non-formal Courses in information security prescribed under the project. 55 subjects (core/electives) across six streams Several academic institutions have adopted and aligned M.Tech/B.Tech programs in line with model syllabus. 10 MOOC courses are under-going development
