About the Project
Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project Phase-II
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) approved a project entitled ‘Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project Phase II’ in 2014 with the objectives of capacity building in Information Security to address human resource requirements in the country, training of Government officials and spreading mass awareness through direct/indirect mode.
The project aimed at training of more than 1.14 lakh persons in various formal/non-formal courses and more than 13,000 Government officials in the area of Information Security, besides spreading mass awareness on Information Security. The project implementation started w.e.f. 1.4.2015, for a period of 5 years, extended up to 30.6.2022.
Broadly, the project envisions promoting formal/non-formal education and training in the area of Information Security aimed at generation of human resources at various levels and spreading mass awareness on Information Security in the country. The project comprises of following key components:
- Generation of core research manpower
- Formal, non-formal courses
- Short term modular courses
- Faculty training
- Training for Government personnel
- Mass Awareness on Information Security
- Creation of Institutional Mechanism to carry out activities of the project
The other activities under ISEA Project Phase-II
ISEA International Conference:
International Conference series under the ambit of ISEA Project was conducted to harness research efforts of different academician/researchers working in different domains of security and to provide a platform for sharing of ideas, knowledge, etc.
Programs under Bilateral/ International Cooperation:
To promote international/bilateral cooperation in academic/research activities in the area of Information Security, a provision for organizing committed lectures (one/two week) from experts from abroad, through ISRDCs/RCs has been implemented.
ISEA Networked Institutes:
The academic activities under the project are implemented by 52 institutions mainly comprising IISc. Bangalore, 6 IITs, 15 NITs, 5 IIITs, 7 Govt. Engineering Colleges, 13 centres of CDAC/NIELIT and 5 Technical Universities, divided in three categories viz. Information Security Research & Development Centres (ISRDCs - 4) and Resource Centres (RCs -7) as mentoring institutions and Participating institutes (PIs-42).
