Responsibilities of DIT

i)       Set up a Project Review and Steering Group (PRSG) to review and steer the progress of the project.

ii)      Set up a National Steering Committee on Information Security Education and Awareness.

iii)     Provide the necessary funds to Resource Centre/ Participating Institute based on the recommendation of the PRSG, and/or assessment by DIT and as approved by DIT.

iv)      Assist in expediting issues related to the progress of this project,     co-ordination with the relevant Govt. departments/ organisations/ national laboratories/ Institutes and other concerned agencies.

v)       Take up any other issues and aspects related to the project.

 Responsibilities of Resource Centre

 i)       Train the faculty of the Participating Institutes.

ii)       Provide technical support to the Participating Institutes attached to it.

iii)      Offer M.Tech in Information Security/ M.Tech in Computer Science with specialisation in Information Security.

iv)      Offer PhD program in Information Security.

v)       Offer B.Tech & M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics / Communication/ Computers disciplines retrofitted with Inforination Security courses.

vi)      Organise Annual Appraisal workshop for Participating Institutes attached to it.

vii)     Organise International Conferences (optional).

viii)     Development of Learning Material in identified areas for use of Resource  Centres and Participating Institutes in teaching Information Security Courses.

ix)      Information Security Education Exchange Programme (optional). (i.e Invite experts from Universities / Industries/ Govt. organisations within India and from other countries)

x)       Offer 2-semester Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Information Security.

xi)      Offer 6-week Short-Term training programme in Information Security.  

Responsibilities of Participating Institute

i)       Offer M.Tech in Information Security/ M.Tech in Computer Science with specialisation in Information Security (optional - only six Participating Institutes to offer the course)

ii)      Offer PhD program in Information Security (optional)

iii)     Offer B.Tech & M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics / Communication/ Computers disciplines retrofitted with Information Security courses

iv)      Offer 2-semester Post Graduate Diploma Programme or I-Semester Certificate course in Information Security

v)       Offer 2-week Short-Term training programme (2 per year) in Information Security

Responsibilities of Implementing Agency

i)    Train Central and State Government Officers on different aspects of Information Security. One course will be typically of one-week duration. The Implementing Agency could offer more than one type of course depending on the requirement of the officers / departments / ministries where these officers are employed.

ii)    The course could be held either at the Office of the Implementing Agency or at any other place depending on the convenience of the Implementing Agency and the concerned organisations for which the course will be organised.

iii)    The Implementing Agency will announce the course plan in consultation with DIT and Department of Personnel and Training.

iv)    Officers of Implementing agency will be trained at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh, USA. These trained officers will be called Master Trainers. During the course of the programme, these Master Trainers will be fully involved for imparting training to the Central and State Government Officers.

v)    Prepare learning material to be used in training. The material so developed will be made in the web format for hoisting on web site to be decided by DIT.

vi)    The Implementing Agency will charge a fee for training officers of Central/ State Government. The fee will be worked out in consultation with Department of Personnel and Training.
