Diploma in Information Security

Diploma in Information Security should be a full time 2-semester course.

Pre-requisite for the course

Graduate in engineering / equivalent and working in the IT/ software industry

Course content

In all the students will do 8-10 courses and a minor project in information security. These will include 4-5 computer science / technology courses and equal no. of courses form information security. The following could be the courses from computer science and information security disciplines:

Computer Technology / Science courses

i. Basic concepts and notation, mathematical background
i. Operating systems
ii. Computer organisation and architecture
iii. Computer networks
iv. Programming tools and techniques


The institute could also include some electives in the related areas.

Minor Project

The students will do a minor project (eight weeks duration) in Information Security. This project could be done either at the institute-offering diploma or at the one of the IT industries.

Note: These are broad guidelines/ template for the Diploma in Information Security course to be offered by the institutes. However, the courses can be modified, i.e. no. of courses to be offered, etc., as per the guidelines of the institutes/university offering this course. However, they should offer minimum of three information security and three computer science courses.
